muros achieves 15 minutes of fame

Andy Warhol was an American artist and a leading figure in the visual art movement in the 1960’s.  Known as “pop art”, his works explore the relationship between artistic expression, celebrity culture and advertisement. He changed the way we look at ourselves and each other.

In 1968 Warhol coined the phrase “in the future everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes.” Even more relevant today in the new world of social media!

Te Papa “our home” is New Zealand’s bold and innovative national museum.  In keeping with their reputation as a recognised world leader in interactive experiences Te Papa recently ran the thought-provoking exhibition, Warhol: Immortal.

To recreate the iconic Warhol photography studio setting, Muros Loft Brick wall panels were utilised by the Te Papa Exhibition Design team. Installed as specified, Muros Wall Panels were layered with tin foil. The loft brick relief was wrapped tightly to create a shiny silver effect; while still carefully retaining the authentic Muros brick contours and texture.

The exhibition photo studio created a highly noticeable visual effect and perfectly captured the original Warhol studio, in addition to the glitteringly public, yet intensely private life of Andy Warhol. In replicating the original Warhol studio the installation also demonstrated the tremendous versatility of Muros Wall Panels to create and deliver innovative and high quality textured finishes for any setting.
