helping leading beach wear store develop an edge

North-Beach-Retail-Wall-Panels
North Beach is one crazy cool customer! It's New Zealand's largest owned and operated street, surf and skate lifestyle company. Stocking such classic surf brands as O’Neill, Ripcurl and Vans, and home-grown styles like Lower, RPM and Huffer.

When North Beach set out to design an uber hip store in New Zealand’s Sylvia Park Shopping Centre, the store owners joined forces with Auckland’s Masonry Design Solutions (MDS). A number of innovative textures and colours were called for, including aged brick and formwork concrete.

From the extensive range of Muros Wall Panel designs and colours, styles were narrowed down to two: Muros Rustic Loft Brick and Muros Roughcast Concrete.

Muros Rustic Loft Brick offered an authentic reclaimed warehouse setting using multiple brick colours. The brickwork panels were installed prominently across the store frontage - setting the scene for entering customers and attracting passing shoppers. Panels were also applied to selected walls where the aged brick added character to complement the range of ultra-mod brands stocked by North Beach.

Muros Roughcast Concrete provided a 'raw' concrete finish to beams and columns throughout the large store. Complete with stony seams, broken form-work lines and cracks the concrete panels enhanced the industrial warehouse setting. A combination of horizontal and vertical panel formats were used - applied where they provided greatest economy (panel utilisation) and ease of install.

The North Beach store design and build had a short timeframe to meet the Christmas period and shopping centre build requirements. Large quantities of panels were required on site soon after design confirmation and works started in line with the set build schedule. Muros International planned and delivered panels in three stages to meet the fit-out requirements of shopfitting specialist, Datum Projects.

At North Beach they “reckon it’s pretty damn important to look your damn-fine best - dressed to perfection in-store and out.” We're pleased to say that the new store does just that!
