muros spices up indian dining

Shamiana Indian Express opened its doors at The Base Shopping Centre (Hamilton) last year with a dynamic new fit-out, taking fast-food to a new level.

Adding an element of sophistication and colour to the casual dining experience was a strategy set to differentiate the eatery from other nearby established dine in/takeaway options.

Auckland Retail and Commercial Interior Design specialists, Kenn Design, was tasked with the brief. Having partnered with Muros International on numerous projects, Kenn Design was confident in both the range and texture of Muros wall products available, and reliability of service.

The selection of Muros Roughcast Concrete was an easy choice. The rough industrial style concrete fitted perfectly with the aged timber finishes. It offered a solid base colour (grey) to complement the distressed timber tones, and the strong black and white lines on both the floor and wall tiles.

The timber formwork concrete also added a modern feel to contrast with the traditional Indian imagery and colourful artwork on the walls.

Lighting always has important part to play in hospitality. The final touch was a warm glow produced by industrial-style lighting pendants and bulbs set uniformly against the concrete wall panels. The distinctive lighting created a more upmarket proposition than neighbouring competitors.
