Bread baked the German way set against Muros’ authentic European brick texture wall panels. Together the natural fit for both the high profile Ponsonby store and their Silverdale German style bakery.
Having emigrated to NZ, Daniela Van Der Scheer and her family simply couldn’t find real German bread they used to grow up loving.Recognising a need and gap in the market ‘Brotzeit’ was born shortly after. It provided a little taste of Germany for Auckland! Named after the traditional German savoury snack, Brotzeit opened offering a wide selection. On the menu were breads to buns, pastries to pretzels baked in traditional German stone ovens.
The fit-out brief was therefore to create a traditional and authentic red brick texture wall ‘backdrop’ to showcase their genuine proposition and passion for German bread. Working with the architect, Nuvo Design, Muros was asked to supply and install a ‘used red brick texture effect’. The brickworks was to be installed as the main feature wall of both high-profile store locations. As a result the desired exposed red brick look was achieved using a brick texture panel supplied by Muros.
The design included natural aging and imperfections found in real red brick. In limited retail space, the thin relief of brick texture was important to exude authenticity of real brick, but not to take up valuable space. Furthermore an efficient installation process using large Muros horizontal panels meant alternative brick and brick slips would have been messy, time-consuming and costly.
Brick texture wall panels by Muros were the perfect solution for natural aged red brick appeal, similar to those of old European brickworks buildings.
Muros Burnt Red Loft Brick complimented the existing natural concrete wall space of grey tones – its dark red bricks, grey mortar and fine grey shadow adding an established solidity. Combined with the sweet aroma of baking bread a warm and welcoming ambience awaited customers.
