Finally, the Point Chevalier homes on this season of The Block NZ were put on the market in August. Connie and Rach’s house features Roughcast Concrete by Muros. Sadly, the excitement of the live auction scheduled for September has dissipated with Auckland’s ongoing lockdown! But all is not lost; the producers recently opted for a secret ‘online auction’ for registered bidders. All will be revealed later in November when The Block NZ Grand Final is broadcast.

Ray White is confident the wait will be worth our while. “The townhouses are four of the most impressive architecturally designed houses Three’s The Block NZ has ever seen,” says Treena Drinnan, Ray White NZ’s Chief Agency Officer. While the room reveals may have given us a sneak peek, we at Muros are awaiting the buzz on unveiling Connie and Rach’s House 1 in its entirety, and our contribution.

A Muros concrete wall panel as featured on The Block NZ show

Team Purple (Connie and Rach) selected European handmade Muros Roughcast Concrete wall panels in two prominent areas of their home: the floor-to-ceiling living room fireplace and TV surround in the living room, and the master bedroom. Our concrete panels were selected to add depth and texture to the high stud white walls. The result is a three-sided fireplace in the living room that projects depth and a 3D concrete block effect. (Please note that where possible, it is preferable to install Muros panels on a minimum of two intersecting wall faces.)

The winning living room was labeled a heavenly retreat with its soothing palette and feature fireplace. The fireplace stood out as the focal point of the rooms, lined with a raw and ‘edgy’ industrial finish in Muros Roughcast Concrete. The style was continued upstairs in the master bedroom, with a similar design for the mounted TV backdrop. Both features were painted in a Resene ‘white’ with a soft roll, to blend into their light bright Scandi vision (our panel installation manuals usually specify preferred colours to paint the panels with). The 3D concrete block finish provides a distinct point of difference that simply no wallpaper could achieve.

As well as the authentic look of concrete block, ease of use and versatility were paramount to decision making. Within the confines of small spaces, busy construction environments and pressing deadlines, the panels needed to be able to be installed swiftly and effectively. All Muros panels are packed and delivered with guide sheets and advice to make installation a breeze for any DIY project (please check our Resources section for guides and other useful resources). However, we recommend taking the help of professional and experienced builders. Further, cutting or jointing panels around corners to effectively wrap around the returns was achieved with ease and a seamless concrete block finish.

The result according to Ray White: “Moody hues, dazzling light and luxe styling are waiting to impress at every turn in this striking residence. Soaring ceilings, stunning skylights and inspired design choices feature consistently throughout creating a welcome sense of serenity.” To the fabulous and fun Papamoa Mums, we wish you all the luck with the sale of your exceptionally designed home. It was a pleasure to contribute to your vision.
