Profiled in the latest edition of Hotel Magazine, Four Points by Sheraton has recently arrived in the heart of the Auckland CBD luxury hotel scene. With a growing presence in the hotel/apartment space and proven track record in the hospitality sector, Muros was the trusted partner to Dominion Constructors.
Precast concrete panels from Muros were selected for the external entrance as well as its Queen’s Head Bar & Eatery. The Muros Roughcast Concrete design was specified by Studio D&A to bring the modern gastro-pub design to life efficiently and economically.
The brief was to capture an industrial design that was modern enough for a new upmarket hotel yet still inviting to guests. As one of the very first public houses in Auckland it was important that the style was consistent with the character and history of the Queen’s Head and rawness of the 1800’s.
In keeping with that theme, a precast concrete wall style was extended by Muros from the restaurant, bar counter front, bulkhead and stairwell to the external large column façade at the main entrance.
The precast concrete wall panels comprise timber form lines, patches, air-pockets and stony aggregate seams. All typical of a precast concrete formwork finish. The large handmade panels replicate the look and feel of natural materials and authentic walls. In addition, the raised relief and subtle imperfections in the walls have a three-dimensional finish therefore delivering a stunning tactile dimension to the common areas.
The lightweight, thin and durable panels were quickly cut and installed by Muros installers. In addition, multiple holes were cut in the panels to install lighting, and jacket hooks screwed into place through the panels. Both demonstrate the versatility of Muros, and are features difficult and time-consuming to achieve in actual precast concrete walls.
Following installation the precast concrete panels were painted in the specified colour. Being independently verified to resist water, fire, UV and erosion made Muros ideal for high-use bar and restaurant areas. As well as numerous apartment renovations, Muros has been used in high profile hotel receptions at The Radisson and Rydges Hotel.
Recently Muros was a significant contributor to the boutique Citizen Apartments (Auckland CBD). Over 200 Muros White Loft Brick wall panels were fitted to a height of four stories on external balconies, beams and soffits.
Operating in the New Zealand and Australia-Pacific market for over a decade, Muros offers over 100 design and colour options in stone, wood, brick, concrete and 3D designs. Muros can satisfy any hotel fit-out, hospitality or apartment space – from foyers, entrances, bathrooms and receptions to conference and individual rooms.
